May 2017 Featured Employees:

Gary Giacobbe and Travis Luecht

Montville Township’s Department of Public Works is full of hard working employees.

We are happy to feature Gary and Travis who are part of this team and tell you a little bit about them.

Gary Giacobbe has been working for the Township for 12 years.  Recently, Gary was tasked with coordinating and installing the 150th Anniversary Banners around town.  Rain or shine, he was found in the Township’s bucket truck, adorning our poles with the celebratory banners proudly.  He even hung a few by ladder when our bucket truck had temporarily broken down.  We recognize the hard work that the 3 week deadline required to hang the 180 banners and we truly appreciate the effort it took to reach that deadline.

Travis Luecht has been working for the Township for just under 2 years.  Travis has become a permanent fixture at our Municipal Building, where he has completed a ceiling tile replacement project as well as installed new bronze letters and a picture hanging system in our renovated chamber.  He was also involved in cleaning and preparing our museum for the 150th anniversary opening.  Travis approaches every project he is given with a high level of professionalism and expertise.

These are just two of the dedicated Public Works employees that work behind the scenes to make Montville beautiful.

June 2017 Featured Employees:

June Hercek, Kelley Kehoe and Nicole Engle

June Hercek is in her third year with Montville Township as the Assistant Administrator.  She is also the Township’s Qualified Purchasing Agent.  At any time of the day you can find her in her office offering advice and guidance or sharing her cheerful smile around the Municipal Building.  In June’s position, there are always several different projects that arise which require her talent and attention.  In Montville’s 150th year there have been a fair amount of new challenges that are always met in a professional and enthusiastic manner by our Assistant Administrator.  Recently she was involved in updating our “Images of America – Montville Township” book.  She had to coordinate and review photographs of the township, as well as write up descriptions utilizing the publisher’s previous style and vision from the earlier version of the book.  This was no easy task, however the book has been enjoyed by several Township residents already and is still available for purchase for $20 until our Fourth of July celebration on June 24th

Upon entering our Municipal Building you are greeted by our Recreation Department sitting out in the common area.  These employees work efficiently and happily despite the constant interruption of foot traffic they encounter.  Kelley Kehoe has worked for Montville Township Recreation for 25 years.  Our Recreation Department offers so many programs and events that require so much planning and coordination.  Kelley’s success is apparent in the smiles of every kid that has ever been involved in any of those programs.  Her expertise and knowledge have been helpful while training Nicole Engle who started in our Recreation Department in the Fall of 2016.  Nicole brings her optimistic perspective and eagerness to learn with her every day and she is a great addition to the department.  The Recreation Department is in the midst of launching another year of Summer Camp as well as other Summer Programs, feel free to stop in to see Kelley and Nicole or check the website http://montvillenj.org  for information!

July 2017 Featured Employee:

 Municipal Clerk Trudy Atkinson.

This recognition comes after 24 years of employment with Montville Township and as we wish all the best to Trudy who is retiring at the end of the month.

Trudy started as an Accounting Clerk in the Finance Dept.  She then became assistant Municipal Clerk and began in her current position as Municipal Clerk in 1999.  The Clerk’s position is one of the most important roles in municipal government, yet Trudy always makes it look easy.  She has supported the staff at the Town Hall as well as our many committee members over the years and is a great source of knowledge of Montville Township.  Upon entering her office everyone was greeted by a “can I help you?” and a laugh.  Her “theme days” around the office were always a nice way to include everyone in holidays and to spread cheer.   Most of us will continue to think of her every time we see a strawberry.

She will certainly be missed by everyone who has had the pleasure of working with her as well as the residents in town who just like to stop in to say hi.

Stop by and wish Trudy all the best in her retirement and congratulations for being our July featured employee!

It is with great pleasure that we announce Stacy Gruca and Rich Huffstutler for Featured Employees for August 2017.

Stacy has been working for the Township for more than a year and a half.  She began her employment in the Engineering Department and transitioned to the Department of Administration, where she has been working for the past year. Stacy is one of those “great finds.”  In addition to her tremendous work ethic, she always has a friendly and welcoming smile.  If she is not in her office, she may be at Community Park overseeing the Clean Communities summer employees or you may find her at the Montville Museum greeting the public on Friday afternoons.  Sometimes you may even find her under a desk where she is troubleshooting computer issues. Stacy is a conscientious and dedicated employee and you can be certain she will complete any task you give her. She always goes above and beyond her typical day-to-day job duties in order to make the community a better place to live and work.  Stacy is fondly referred to as “groupie” –she has attained celebrity status as she is admired by many!

Rich has been employed with the Montville Township Department of Public Works (DPW) since December of 1994.  Over the past 23 years, his respect and dedication has enabled him to work his way through the ranks to his current position as DPW Supervisor.  Rich is a lifelong Montville resident and takes ownership in his work.  The best interests and appeal of the Township are always a priority.  He is also a Montville Volunteer Firefighter.  One of Rich’s best attributes is that he never says, “no”.  Regardless of the daily workload, when an emergency arises he fits it into the schedule and completes the task.  He is very well respected amongst his peers and possesses the skills of a true leader. He will never ask his employees to do anything that he wouldn’t do, or has already done himself.  Rich and his fellow workers are responsible for daily maintenance throughout the Township, emergencies when they arise, as well as handling the behind the scenes logistics that make all of the Township’s special events so successful.  He is truly one of the greatest assets to Montville.

Please join in congratulating Stacy and Rich for their dedication, teamwork and always humble work ethic.

Congratulations Stacy and Rich!

September 2017 Featured Employee:

Happy September and happy to announce our featured employees......

Susan Weatherford and Jennifer Storey

If you have ever come into the Municipal Building to pay your Property Tax or ask questions regarding your Tax Bill then you have most likely encountered the pleasant and professional Susan Weatherford. Sue has worked for Montville Township Tax Collection for 20 years. She not only collects property tax payments but she also handles various questions and issues presented by the residents in a respectful, professional and pleasant manor. Sue always has a pleasant greeting for everyone and always does her utmost to assist in any way she can to get an issue resolved as quickly and efficiently as possible for both residents and fellow co-workers.  Perhaps what most people remember about Sue is her unique sense of style.  She is always wearing the latest fashions and her super trendy outfit ideas are a testament to her signature flair!

Jennifer Storey joined us in April of 2015 as our new Accounts Payable Clerk.  She has been great addition to the Finance Team, diligently working to make sure every department receives their purchase orders, every department’s vendors get paid on a timely basis, bill lists are generated for the Township meetings and so much more. There is nothing she won’t do to help you, whether it is showing you how to use Edmunds, processing your requisition as you hover over her shoulder, cutting you an emergency manual check or just helping you out personally or with something completely unrelated to her job. She also has been a great help to Administration with this year’s 150thCelebrations, from coordinating and helping the children taking part in the Special Township meeting to providing the cookies for the pre-meeting reception.   She is a very hard worker and very busy person whether it is here at the Township or the million things she does when she leaves here each day such as a soccer coach to one of her sons and a very supportive soccer Mom to her daughter, to name a few.  She also has a very big heart and in her “spare” time recently organized a very successful soccer fund raiser to a child in need in her community.

Please stop by and congratulate Sue and Jen for all their hard work, dedication and smiles while the do it!:)

Congratulations Susan and Jennifer!!!
